Despite Woolen's tackling issues and concentration lapses, he remains an exceptional cover corner with height, arm length, and speed that are hard to find. However, his likely high price tag and the Seahawks' financial constraints make his retention a challenging proposition.
In anticipation of the upcoming Scouting Combine, former NFL scout and renowned draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah offered some intriguing insights. When asked about potential replacements for Riq Woolen, Jeremiah highlighted two SEC cornerbacks: Julian Neal from Arkansas and Devin Moore from Florida.
"Julian Neal is a big, long, and efficient mover at 6'1 1/2 and 202 pounds," Jeremiah said. "He can high point, run with vertical routes, and deliver some big hits. He's in that late second-round range for me."
Jeremiah also praised Devin Moore, a 6'3, 200-pound cornerback with a unique high-side shuffle technique. "He's comfortable in press coverage, can play through the receiver to the ball, and is a good blitzer. He showed some impressive ball skills and toughness in his game against Texas."
Both Neal and Moore offer size and physicality, but they come with their own sets of concerns. Neal, who transferred from Fresno State, doesn't have the same speed as Moore, while Moore's health is a major question mark due to his history of shoulder injuries.
As we await the combine measures, these two cornerbacks are certainly worth keeping an eye on. They represent potential replacements for Riq Woolen, but the Seahawks will need to carefully evaluate their options to find the right fit for their secondary.
